During these past 20 years, the company managed to grow its name and become one of the market leaders in the industry. What is the story? How did it all begin? Where is YYT Food Corporation nowadays? Keep reading to find out what makes YYT Food corporation a success story.
The story began back in June of 1996 when Dr. Adel Bukhowa established the first Yum Yum Tree Food Court in Bahrain. This one food court started what was best be described as a chain reaction of successes; It was the first step towards today’s YYT Food Corporation. Yum Yum Tree Resturant was a hit in Bahrain for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it was strategically located in Exhibition Road. In addition, this concept of a ‘restaurant within a restaurant’ was new to customers and everybody wanted to try it. To top it all, the prices of the food were extremely affordable to the visitors. So basically, visitors got to sit, relax, experience live cooking and enjoy their favorite cuisines in one setting, all without paying a large sum of money. What is not to like?
The years between 2000 and 2015 were the years of expansion; over the course of 15 years, Bukhowa Investments LLC experienced regional growth and gained major popularity. The small food court got bigger to include new international cuisines through franchises from both the United States and Canada. So, in 2000 the Italian cuisine Vanellis opened in Qatar and the Japanese brand Teriyaki opened in the UAE. In 2005, Vanellis opened in KSA as well. In 2007, the Indian brand Tandori opened its doors in Bahrain. In 2008, Pad Thai, the Thai cuisine, opened in UAE. In 2012, Menchies, a one of a kind frozen yogurt place with American roots, opened in Bahrain and the expansion continued. As a part of their expansion phase, they started to operate in standalone locations like in malls, airports, petrol stations, office parks, and street side venues. All of this took place not just in Bahrain but also Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE.
The year 2016 was a turning point. Global Management, a subsidiary of Global Investment House, Kuwait, acquired the Bukhowa family business. Today this food business is a strong GCC entity – housed under the group name YYT Food Corporation LLC.
